The Infinitesimal
Sometimes a number doesn't need to be exact, it just has to have meaning in context. Enter the infinitesimal, known affectionately in Mathican as "poco". It's as close to zero as you can get without actually being zero.
Clearly poco is therefore insignificant, I mean it's basically zero, right?
Well, let's think about it a little... Remember that reciprocation is fundamental to Mathican ("per 2" is the reciprocal of 2, a half). The reciprocal of poco (per poco) is a massive number, in fact it's about as close to infinity (or "undefined" in semel, pero in Mathican) as you can get without being infinity. Crucially all these numbers still have direction, which has equal significance regardless of magnitude.
In Mathican zero and pero (per zero) have no direction, but poco and per poco do, this enables meaningful mathematical interrogation of numerical areas resistant to conventional probing.
Mathican positively encourages mistakes and breakages, it is these fragile boundaries that need to be breached in order to make new discoveries.
